Hong Kong - 7th Dec to 12th Dec 08 (part 1)

Our much awaited break finally came and we were off to Hong Kong!

Cheryl was extremely excited and despite having to wake up at 4 am, she didn't even whimper or complained of a lack of sleep. On the plane itself, she quickly settled down and occupied herself doodling and colouring.

Our first destination after touch down: Disneyland Hollywood Hotel! The hotel was great! They knew we had a kid with us and they prepared toddler bath robes and bedroom slippers for C. Cheryl was in awe when she entered the room and saw that she had not being "forgotten". Nice gesture! :)

Then we hurried off to Disneyland itself!

We clowned around... after all, we are all kids at Disneyland.

Oh, after 3 hours of flying and many thousand miles away from home, we saw familiar faces! Actually, we saw many familiar faces.

We took pictures with our favourite Disney characters. I guess for Daddy and myself, it was better than a dream come true, to see these characters come to live. We grew up on Disney and back then when we were kiddos, Mickey Mouse cartoons on television was a rare treat!

The Stars of Disneyland! Mickey and Minnie Mouses!

Of course, we had to take the many rides!

We also took the rail train which circled the theme park.

posed for more pictures!

Had breakfast with the stars... .

... pigged out even more in the afternoon.

And when night came, the entire place was magically transformed.

Yes, it even "snowed".

At the end of the 2nd day, we headed to the City for the second part of our stay in Hong Kong.

On the MTR out.

And retired in Panorama Hotel, all beat!

... Tour of the City began the next day... .

Sounds like great fun!
I noticed there didn't seem to be a crowd when you were there. Any tips to avoid going on a crowded day?

haha!!
looks are deceiving! we had to wait for an average of 20 min for some rides and the popular ones, as much as 40 min.

for the pics with mickey and all, long long queue but other less popular characters like 10 to 15 min wait.

the park closes at 8pm and 9pm on fri and sat nights. and lots of pp leaving the place. my advice is to stay in disneyland hotel for at least 1 night. we spent 1 night there and still dint manage to take all the rides or catch all the performances. waiting time lah..

go early. the park opens at 10 and its still manageable . crowd will start to come in by 11-12 pm. and then its all the way crowded already.

I see I see~ From your post it sounded like everything can be played/reached without queueing long~ ^^|
We went Tokyo last year but didn't visit Disneyland cos my wife's dream is to visit that in USA. Gonna wait a while though while we save up for it...

it is! they had a personalised greeting in our room when we checked in and on the last night, they also prepared a note for us thanking us for our stay. i would say i will definitely go back there. you know how hk is kind of notoriously famous for the cramped hotels, we had a bath in there. and on the last night we were there, c had her bubble bath. hee. played in there for 30 min.

its at tst. and its like less than 1 min walk to the train station. then after that its either to other parts of the city via trains. it is also within walking distance to the tourist hunt at canton, ave of stars, the science museum and all. :)
