Family Day @ the Zoo!

We have to thank Aunt Hazel (my very lovable, and super nice Staff Welfare Chairperson) for organizing this outing to the Zoo.

We were given a task to accomplish at the zoo so C and I got down to fixing the puzzle the night before.

Immediately after C's class, we hurried off to the zoo for our lunch and then started our tour.

We tried to spot as many animals as we could! But we also gave a lot of other animals a miss as we were rather beat from the playing.

Playing? Did I say "playing"?

Hmm... C definitely had a ball of her time there! :)

@ the Zoo with the Siaws

Both C and Keziah didn't have music class so we decided to spend the entire day at the Zoo.

It was a fun-filled morning and the kids had so much fun ogling at the many animals.

I think the last time we came to the zoo was a year ago and while we were in the car, C was really excited and couldn't stop talking about it.

Some of the animals we saw:

We also caught some animal shows! C loved the penguins. Ever since she saw Madagascar in the cinema, she was dancing to the theme song and then she wanted to go catch "Alex, the lion", "Gloria, the Hippo", "Marty, the zebra" and so on. She particularly adored the penguins.

Along the way, we had a little break and the girls ... just look at them enjoying their Vitagen.

The highlight of the day must definitely be the water play!

After the water play, we continued with our journey...

Uncle Linus took this picture of us! Thank you! :)

The magnificent lions! It was feeding time so we had the opportunity to catch them in action!

We went for lunch after that. Oh, we were so hungry and the kids were already falling asleep.

2nd visit to the Zoo

Aunt Angie managed to get some tickets to the Zoo and she was really nice to invite us along. So after Daddy's physio session, we met them and went there.

I did not take many pictures :( this time but we saw the elephants, which we missed the last time we were here.

Cheryl was thrilled to go with the girls and along the way, she was screaming and rejoycing at the fact that she had their company that afternoon. We can always count on Aunt Angie to come prepared for anything. There was food and we quickly sat ourselves down at the shelter where the elephant show was to be held and ate to our fill.

There were rides but our little ones are too young to be on them on their own so these life-sized statues come really handy. Can't ride the real thing, ride the make-believe ones will do!

Night Safari

We finally made our first trip to the world-famous Night Safari and we were just as excited as Cheryl.

I brought Cheryl to town earlier so that we could do some shopping before meeting Daddy to go to the Night Safari. Our train ride was okay except we had to stand for most part of the journey. Hmm, whatever happened to courtesy and basic manners? We even saw elderly folks standing and no one offered them any seats. It was alright, Cheryl is old enough to listen to instructions and she held onto the pole with dear life.

When it was about 5.30pm, we walked to the food court and bought dinner for Cheryl. I fed her while we waited for Daddy to show. Then it was off to the Night Safari!

Daddy had a great dinner! The food was actually, not too bad at all!

Unfortunately, flash photography was not permitted and we could not take any clear pictures so we decided to just chill and watch the animals.

But we did manage to take these shots of Cheryl "riding" the zebra.

There were also many animal shows but the queue was amazingly long and it was past Cheryl's bed time. She was already fussing for me to "make milk" but in her tiredness, she still wanted to catch her favourite performance; Tribal Dance and Fire Eating. She was in awe and clapped along with the other spectators. I was telling Daddy, "We are at the Night Safari and all she wants to see is the Dance!"

Close Encounter with the Animals

We finally, after so long, made it to the Zoo last Saturday! Hurray!!

Of course, it was exciting... Daddy's last trip to the zoo was donkey years ago; he said it was probably during his primary school days when he last went. That was like more than 20 years ago! It was also Cheryl's first trip.

The weather was exceptionally nice and cooling that afternoon and it was perfect because we spent just about the entire day there.

We saw so many animals and Cheryl could not stop pointing and gesturing. It was a record day for her because she did not want to take her naps. Yes, she woke up at 8 am in the morning and at 6pm when we left the zoo, she hadn't slept a wink.

Once we got into the car, Cheryl pulled her hat down to cover her eyes. For a moment, I thought she was playing Hide and Seek with me again but when I lifted the hat, there she was, sleeping and even snoring. She must be terribly exhausted.
