My colleagues had put together a Learning Journey for our CCA groups and I decided to take C along since she had a day off from school. The earlier part of the morning was spent at the Peranakan Museum and we were given a guided tour around the place.

The highlight of the Learning Journey was definitely the trip to Kampong Glam at Bukit Merah where the girls got to flip roti prata.

 It was lunch to settle the hungry stomachs before the session started.

The girls were given a brief history of the origins of roti prata before they started.

There was a master chef who went around ensuring that the girls had flipped correctly.

The teachers got their hands dirty too. :)

To end it all, a prata buffet! These were not the prata the girls flipped just now. They tried prata of different flavours; some were pretty exotic like durian prata, chocolate prata and prata bomb.

Needless to say, C had a wonderful and enriching time. My students took care of her and she chatted with them like they were old friends. :)

We were honoured! 

It isn't an everyday affair that we get to invitations to special previews and today, we were given the opportunity to rub shoulders with some special people.

The kids were all excited and had to literally squeeze their way in to take a peek.

But we managed a few pictures with the heroes who were around.

The exhibition at the Philatelic Museum is still on so it's a good time to catch it since it is the school holidays. :)

C had the Saturday afternoon off and I immediately pounced on the chance to make plans.

I had always wanted to go to the Marina Bay Sands and even though C and I had the opportunity to when we went to watch the Disney performance, I made reservations to catch the highly acclaimed Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.

Tickets were for the Dali: Mind of a Genius exhibition as well as Titanic.

After dinner, we proceeded to the Museum, where we saw the Dali exhibition first.

There were many sculptures and we were memorized by the many paintings too. Creativity really knows no boundaries.

We saved the best for last...

We were each given a boarding pass and on the reverse side, we were to taken on the persona of one of the thousands people who traveled on the Titanic on her fateful maiden voyage.

Photography were prohibited inside so we couldn't take any pictures. But they had recreated some parts of the ship and we couldn't resist. C and Daddy, doing the "Ross-and-Jake" thing though C hasn't seen the movie to really understand what we were rattling about.

Overall, it was an enriching yet haunting experience. Many of the exhibits were artifacts recovered from the wreckage. Many of them still had their names engraved on the items and for some passengers, it seemed they had known it all along that they would never reach the shores of New York City when they boarded the Titanic in Southampton England.

It was Deepavali and we decided to make a trip to the Istana.

We got our tickets to visit the State Rooms. Unfortunately, there was a no photography rule indoors hence we couldn't take any pictures.

After lunch, we headed off to the Asian Civilisation Museum.

We were there to catch the terracotta soldiers but the exhibition had ended its run. But we had a good time looking at the other exhibitions.

We didn't take many pictures though... but the museum was a fantastic place. We learned that admission is free for teachers and school-going children so we will definitely come back. We didn't manage to cover the entire museum though as we were rather tired.

Since the screening of 

Cheryl has become extremely inspired by the Police Force and since I had a day off after National Day, I made arrangements for us to pay a visit to the Police Heritage Centre.

The visit was indeed an eye-opener. There was a guide who took us through the early years of the Police, from during the times when Singapore was a British colony till, after Independence. 

Pictures were not really allowed in the gallery so we only managed some.
