So Term 1 is over...

How time flies; Cheryl has been in school for 10 weeks and I must say, it has been a fruitful 10 weeks.

This the the latest update from Miss Sally:

"Dear Mr & Mrs Lian,

Cheryl has covered phonic sounds from "a to n" and she has been consistent in remembering her sounds. She is tracing the alphabet progressively from day to day.

She has shown great improvement in sequencing her numbers within 5 and loose quantity counting within 3. Her counting activity was done without supervision. She is also practising writing the numbers with the wooden board and stick. She forms them correctly.

Cheryl knows her primary colours and learning the new colours we get when we mix them e.g. red + yellow = orange, blue + red = purple etc. She is also getting to know the basic shapes.

Lately, Cheryl has worked with the shelf materials correctly. I am seeing progressive improvements in her behaviour also.

As this is my last report for this term, I wish you in advance, a happy holiday together!

Warmest regards,
Miss Sally."

And here are just some of the work that Cheryl has done in the term.

Zoophonics is taught in Josiah and C is pretty good at remember her phonics. Actually, she already knows her phonics, thanks to the Leapfrog DVDs that I got her. So her learning zoophonics in school is somewhat like reinforcement.

Cheryl has done colours.

She has also done the more sophisticated mixing of colours.

She knows the different sizes and how to match similar shapes. And 2 days ago, she returned from school with an art piece of the different shapes and colours. I must say, this is a very creative way of presenting all the different concepts; shapes, colours, sizes, she has learnt.

Cheryl attends Mandarin classes in school and she has learnt many songs from her Chinese teacher. She has learnt to recognise her body parts in mandarin. But we love it best when she sings in mandarin because she always has this "ang moh" twang to her pronunication.

And so concludes her first term in school. Daddy and I are very proud of our little Spark and her achievements so far. We will continue to encourage her and hopefully her progress in term 2 will be as good, if not better.
