The colour Blue will never mean the same...

Cheryl developed a fever in the middle of the night and I decided to take a day off from work to attend to her. In the morning, I brought her to the doc as her fever persisted.

After her milk at 3pm, I put her down for her nap but when I went to check on her again, I found her shaking terribly. She was lying on her tummy, her usual sleeping position and when I turned her around, I had the fright of my life. Cheryl's lips had turned blue and her eyes rolled upwards. I panicked and started crying. At that moment, I thought I had lost her. I kept crying and calling out her name. I grapped my bag and went down to catch a cab. Thankfully, a neighbour who was leaving the carpark saw the anxiety and desperation on my face and offered us a ride to the hospital.
I completely lost it... in the car, I was calling out to Cheryl to try to keep her conscious but I think she didn't hear me. She went all limp and was groaning. She was not responding to my calls at all... That was the longest ride that I have taken. In the hospital, she was immediately given medication to stop her fits. The whole time, I was terribly worried and was in tears. I didn't know what else I could do to relieve the discomfort she was feeling. I felt rotten that she had to go through this and even worse when I was helpless. When she regained consciousness, she started crying and she even tried to reach out to me. It really killed me to see the tubes on her. She had an oxygen mask over her face and it must have felt uncomfortable. She was extremely drowsy from the after effects of the medication and despite that, she didn't want to go to bed. She was crying for as long as 3 hours. She has never cried so much. When Daddy saw her, he broke down in tears too. Yes, our hearts bled.
She finally fell asleep but she woke up 2 hours later. This time, she was more alert and could interact with us. When she said "Wah", my first thought was, "My baby is back." The next day, she was much better and was more playful. But her movements were slow and she was rather unsteady. Her milk intake also decreased but at least, she was cheery and could do the tricks that we asked her to. Her fever subsided and was kept at bay. Both nights, Daddy and Mummy kept watch over her, hoping that she would recover soon.
She is at home now, sleeping. She is still rather unsteady and cannot crawl as fast too. But she has lost weight and is still probably weak from the whole episode. When she came back home, the first thing she wanted to do was to crawl around and do the things she usually did. She must have missed doing all these things.
She is a survivor; I mentioned this before and I still say she is. She is a brave little girl.
By the way, I made her pinkie swear that she will never, ever do this again!
