Diaper-less tonight.

I decided that tonight would be the night that C went to bed without her diapers.

After all, there have been signs that she is ready to be diaper-less:
1) her diaper is usually dry the next morning
2) she tells me or Daddy whenever she needs to pee
3) she pees before going to bed

And since tomorrow is Saturday and we don't need to wake up early for work, Daddy agreed to do the trial.

Cheryl woke up close to 7am and asked me to make milk. I got up, half expecting the sentence "Mummy, I'm wet too" so with bated breath, I walked over to her bed and felt the sheets first.
My eyes widened when the sheets were dry and then I touched her clothes, dry too!

I smiled at our Precious and told her softly to get up to pee.

Then we got her the milk and went back to the room. She is still in La La Land. :)

We will try it again tonight.

No accidents last night too! =)

Yeah!!! Think we can officially declare that C is diaper-less!

I have at least 20 pieces of diapers left, is anyone keen?

Toilet-trained!

Cheryl is finally showing signs of being willing to give up her diapers!

Yesterday, Grand Mummy managed to coax her to use the toilet. C called me immediately on my mobile to tell me that she flushed her poo away. She told Grand Mummy that to poo in the toilet is good because she doesn't need to wash; "just need to wipe only."

This afternoon, it happened again. She started whinning and I asked if she wanted to go to the loo and she nodded. She got up to the seat herself and held on tightly and seconds later, we both heard a "plop". There after, C's eyes widen and she exclaimed that her poo poo dropped into the water. Aunt Di was in the toilet too and the both of us clapped loudly and made such a big deal of her using the toilet successfully.
I am and hoping that she will completely be weaned off her diapers soon.

Reward

Cheryl tried with all her might literally to poo for 2 days. Yesterday, she tried and she was in tears, because she couldn't do it, no matter how hard she tried. Usually, just hiding in a corner or behind the door would do the trick but last night, she just couldn't do it.

She came out from the bedroom and hid behind the seat I was on. Daddy and I could hear her try her best to force her poo out. Then she cried out in a pitiful voice that her "poo poo could not come out." By then she was perspiring and she couldn't even stand up straight. She didn't even want to walk as her bums hurt.

She didn't even want to sit after that and insisted on watching Bob, the Builder on her tummy.

This afternoon while I was on my way back, she called me on my mobile and she was in tears again because she was constipated yet again. I had to slowly coax and encourage her and then 2 minutes later, she called again to tell me that her "naughty poo poo is out!"

As a reward, I got her a little cupcake.

Yes, she loved it!

Constipated!

I have never dreamt that I would say this but it happened; Cheryl had constipation. For a good 3 days, she did not poo and no amount of coaxing or praises could get her to do it.

She used to only poo in her diapers; she would hide behind the door or under a table (just about anywhere where she is well hidden) or tell us to "go away" so that she can do her business peacefully.

But since she has been without her diapers, she has stopped. Grand Mummy managed to get her to do it though and she told me that I need to constantly praise C to encourage her but I do and yet, C has not been cooperative.

Both Daddy and I are so afraid that she will fall ill because C's bowel movement has always been the last thing on our minds; she used to do it once a day, so I brought her to see a doc finally. Thankfully the doc didn't think the suppositories were necessary and instead gave her some oral meds which were extremely effective. Just 3 minutes after C took it, she complained of a tummyache (for the umpteen time) and finally she pooed! Phew! It was a load of our minds.

C was of course pleased with herself.

This is the highly effective medicine I was talking about.

Diapers away?

We are extremely proud of Cheryl!

Cheryl has been with Grand Daddy and Mummy for a few days now and Daddy suggested getting Grand Mummy to toilet train C. Some how, we all know that Grand Mummy is capable enough to do this! Afterall, she had 4 kids and in those days where disposable diapers were far and in between, she managed to potty train all 4 of us and we had never wet the mattress at night.
So the mission officially started yesterday. C initially would scream and was reluctant but she managed. The second time however, C was on the bed and when she felt the urge to go, she got down from the bed but was too slow to go to the potty and wet the floor. Then she hid behind the door and cried bitterly.
The third time, she gladly went to the toilet when Grand Mummy asked her to. She was very happy and clapped when she heard tinkling in the potty.

You can imagine the grin on our faces when Daddy and I heard that and saw that she was diaper-less when we got back from work.
But when we got back home in the evening, I tried to put her on the potty again but she was protesting very loudly! Honestly, I don't know how Grand Mummy does it! Cheryl will go when GM asked her to yet she wouldn't listen to me.

Just now, C called me to announce that she has peed in the toilet. And Grand Mummy and Daddy brought C marketing. They are so adventurous and daring to let her go without diapers when they are out! (I am having a heart attack already!)
Did I mention, we are so proud of her? :)

so... we will see diaper-less days soon? But I have so many diapers left! Okay, okay, I can always pass them on.
I took pictures of her successfully using the potty! And she is obviously enjoying the attention she receives.

Eventful Saturday

On Saturday, we woke up early because Daddy needed to bring our car down for servicing. Yes, our ride has travelled 5000 km... well almost in 2.5 months. After that, we headed to Woodlands to have lunch with Grand Daddy and Mummy.

Uncle Ben and Aunt Diana had just returned from their little getaway from Hong Kong; oh, how I wish we could get away... . And they came back with clothes for C. And moon cakes! I didn't know that Cheryl loves moon cake so much. She's got a sweet tooth like Daddy.

Oh, Oh!! I must tell you this! Daddy and I are so very proud of our little girl. She FINALLY managed to poo sitting on the toilet bowl, all thanks to Grand Mummy! I was going about doing my own thing and Daddy had gone out to settle his rims. Then Cheryl came running into the room with Grand Mummy close behind. Then C climbed onto my lap and told me "Mummy, Cheryl poo poo in toilet bowl." Immediately, I stopped whatever I was doing and got her to repeat herself. Then she beamed and showed me her pearlies.
When I told Daddy, he was so full of praise for her.

In the late afternoon, we went for Uncle Gavin's house warming. Cheryl had a ball with Lucus and they were running around, and playing hide and seek with each other. At times, C would hit Lucus and he would sulk and complain "Don't beat me!" but then again, C would apologise and all was well again. Such a love-hate relationship!
Then Daddy and I decided to go for some CD shopping and of course, while Daddy was choosing his tunes, C was just as busy.

She was tall enough to pluck the ear phones off the hooks and as she listened, she was swaying her little body. She even passed me the ear phones and said "Good?"

Potty Time!

Cheryl has been trained to poo before she takes a dip in the bath so it is only natural that the next step is to get her to do it in a potty. She has been successful several times. Daddy was helping her this time. From the state of her hair, you can tell that she just got out of bed!
