I try to get C to practise her piano every night and there were several occasions where besides playing the pieces that she was taught in class, she would hum some songs and attempt to play them on the piano. When I asked her to complete her songs, she would tell me that she needed to play her own songs first.
So this evening, I humoured her by getting her a page of the manuscript and told her that she could write her new song down and play it for Daddy afterwards and she did just that. She played some notes on the keyboard and then told me that she couldn't write it down as the keyboard was too soft.
Then she promptly showed it to her Daddy Dearest. She might not be a Mozart but that shouldn't stop us from encouraging her to be one either. :) I guess like everyone else, the need for love and affirmation is greater than anything else and as long as the child is nurtured, she will feel hearten to go out there and conquer the world!
