As usual, she waited for me to return from work to give her her dinner and there was a dish of celery sitting on the dining table. My initial thought was that she would not eat this; it's after all not a vegetable everyone fancies and much less a toddler with picky taste buds. But I gave it to her all the same although I had cut it into small pieces.
And guess what, she took it all!
Reasons why she should eat it:
Nutrition Highlights:
Though most cooks in the kitchen look upon celery as a common vegetable, it has a lot of nutrients that can enhance overall good health.
- Celery contains vitamin C and several other active compounds, one which is known as phalides. Phalides relax the muscles of the arteries that help to regulate blood pressure and allow these vessels to dilate.
- They also reduce stress hormones which are known to cause blood vessels to constrict.
- The celery is used as a diuretic. It is rich in potassium and sodium which are two minerals that are important for the body in order to help regulate fluid balance.
