I had to work late today so I brought Cheryl to Grandaunty Susan's. Cheryl somehow knew that something was not right. She loves to bathe and play in the tub but this time round, she kept looking at me while attempting to enjoy herself. When it was time to clean her, Grandaunty did it instead of me. She just cried out! I had to leave the place as I needed to be back at work by 5.30 pm and Cheryl won't let me go. She was wailing and crying so hard, my heart broke. I felt so rotten for leaving her in such a state.
It dawned on me that she probably cried her lungs out when I first returned to work after my long maternity break. Oh my, that must have been a thousand times worse for her because she was so little then.
After I reached my workplace, I called back and found out that she was still crying. Cheryl even made Grandaunty Susan walk around in search of me. But she fell asleep soon after. When she awoke, she was having fun with her Uncle Oliver and Aunty Dallas. It was a great relief when I received a message saying that she was happily snacking with all of them. Grandaunty Susan even cooked up home-made mashed potato for her.
