Happy Feet @ Botanic Gardens

Aunt Angie discovered that there would be a movie screening of Happy Feet at the Botanic Gardens so we decided it would be great to go for a little pinic and enjoy the trees at the Gardens. So we packed our bags and were there by 6pm, which by the way was a little "late" because all the good spots were taken.

We quickly settled ourselves in and the kids just had a wonderful time playing and jumping around. Cheryl was exceptionally active and she would not stop prancing! The whole time along the journey, she was telling us that she wanted to play with Zinnia and Yeva and of course, her Uncle Junming and Aunt Angie.

The movie started at 8 but by then, the tidbits that we ate earlier could not satisfy our hunger and the thought of delaying dinner till 10pm (the kids' too) brought horrified looks to our faces. So we hurriedly packed and left; just 15 minutes after the start of the movie!

True enough, while we were walking to the car, the kids were loudly announcing that they wanted to eat noodles, and rice (for Cheryl).

I love to watch Yeva eat because she is very focused and the food always seem so delicious! You can give Zinnia "kuay tiao" anytime and this girl will flash you her oh-so-satisfied grin. As for Cheryl, nothing beats plain old rice and broccoli.

What a choice of music?

We finally sent our car in to set the audio done and we were lucky that one of Daddy's friends drove us back home.

Daddy and I, after much contemplation, decided that we will not be installing a DVD player in the car because as it is, Cheryl is already watching way too much television. Moreover, we did not want to make our weekend travels in the car another tv session.

But Cheryl's eyes were so bright and sharp and the first thing she noticed when we got into Daddy's friend's car was you guessed it, the TV! The little boy who came with Daddy's friend listens to Il Divo and he insisted on playing it.

I was half-expecting Cheryl to turn around and tell me "don't like" like she usually did when we were in Uncle Ben's car and listening to his stereos. To our surprise, Cheryl's eyes were glued to the four men on that little screen and singing along. Never mind if she did not know the words, or the songs, she just sang or at least she tried to follow them.

Daddy just smiled and I could not keep my mouth close.

Okay, I am putting a clip up so you can listen to them as well. I am not complaining; these men can sing and well, they aren't that bad looking too. Besides, Daddy and I listen to them too.

Queen getting a little too crowded.

This is our bed now and as you can see. It is getting a little overcrowded. I really have to shoot myself because I must say I have quite a neck for getting myself into trouble.

In my bid to coax Cheryl to lay and fall asleep in her own bed, I told her that her Baby (the doll on the left) and Princess (obviously) will be lonely in her bed. But Cheryl has other plans, she climbed onto ours, asked for her milk and promptly put Baby and Princess next to her.

I asked in mock horror, "Oh, where is Mummy going to sleep now?" and our little spark shifted her little body to her right and made space for her Mummy dearest.

Oh later on, she also brought her bunny up to the bed.

Several months back, I bought Cheryl some bath toys so that she would willing take her bath and not have me run around the house to catch her. But after the toys and the tub; she loves bubble baths, it is getting harder to get her out of the toilet because she wants to stay in there to play with Duckie, Frogie, Baby, Boat, and... .

Baby Heidi turns 1

How time flies, I still recall us going to the hospital to visit Baby Heidi when she was born and now she is already 1.
We had fun and Cheryl, as usual, made her presence felt by running around and playing Big Sister to the babies around. Oh, but she met her match with Lucus. She will run away or hide between Daddy's legs when she sees him and when she is a safe distance away, taunt him.
Heidi with her Mummy, Shirley and her other little friends!

It would have been a great dinner...

We went out with Aunt Juliana in the morning to do some important errands and then we went to visit Grandparents.

We dropped by Centrepoint as Aunt Juliana had to update her bank account. Halloween came a little early for Cheryl. We found some costume and dressed her up. Okay, so we skipped the princess and went straight to the king!

Aunt Margaret's friend came to visit and when she left, it was too late to cook dinner so we decided to eat out. Aunt Diana and Margaret finally "found" the little eatery; Taste of Thailand. We have always liked the food and since the Sembawang Shopping Centre had been demolished, we have been wondering where they moved to and when Diana said she thought she found it, we decided it was a good chance to see if she was right.

These were taken just before we left.

When we reached there, Oh, yes she was right. The place was packed! Thankfully we arrived slightly earlier because right after we were seated, a large group of people had gathered and were eagerly looking for seats.

Cheryl has since developed a little something for Spiderman. Hmmm.... what is it about Spiderman and little girls?

I thought having dinner here was a good idea because we saw Grand Daddy eating with his fingers and that could only mean one thing; he enjoyed the food! And this was great because it had been a long while since we saw such a sight.

The dinner would otherwise be a great dinner but I was not feeling too well. In fact, Daddy was not too. He has been having a fever since Thursday. Immediately after dinner, we went back Grandparents' and what I ate for dinner was out.

It got really bad and I thought we couldn't make it back home. Along the way, we went to a clinic where I received 2 jabs; 1 on each bum. :(

Daddy's 31st Birthday!

Talk about celebrating Daddy's birthday with a bash. What a bash it turned out to be because it was done over 3 consecutive days. There was a prelude; which was just the cake cutting on Friday night; Aunt Angie and family came over to do the honours because Aunt Linda who ordered the cake suddenly had plans and could not make it. The girls had a fun time playing with each other first before digging in.

The power of peer pressure; all the girls were feeding themselves and finishing up all of their food. I have never seen Cheryl more interested in her food than that night.

After our girls had their dinner, Daddy finally reached home. Yes, he had to work late as he had so much to do. But the girls were thrilled to see him and of course to sing him the birthday song. All of them wanted to blow the candles on the cake. Zinnia, counted the candles and proudly declared that her God-Father is 4 years old! Daddy, you wish!!

This is us, with our darling God-daughters!

On Saturday evening, we went to a Korean restaurant for our dinner. This time, we had Aunt Colleen, Uncle Zixian, Bernie and Nicolette with us together with Aunt Angie and family. It has been a long time since we had dinner together. If my memory does not fail me, the last time our 3 families gathered was last August when Daddy returned from his overseas trip.

The food at the restaurant was nice, and different. Spicy too (good because it cleared both Daddy's and mine bowels quite well when we came home). We were pleasantly surprised that the waitresses were all Korean and the food was quite authentic. I was thinking it is just another restaurant jumping on the Korean-craze band wagon and trying to "con" simple folks like us. But I must say, it was a nice experience. Oh, the evening was perfect except for the fact that Zinnia was unwell. "Hope you recover soon, my dear." Meanwhile, Cheryl and Bernie had a ball at the playground.

Just look at the presentation! The waitress even helped with the bbqing of the food and all we had to do was, really to just pig out.

Okay, Daddy revealed at night that he did not really enjoy the food. Next year, I guess I have to find another restaurant. Daddy is more into steak so perhaps it will be in a steak house next year.

This is what the meat looks like sandwiched in raw, crispy vegetables. So unless you are a REAL vege-lover (which Daddy isn't really) you would not fancy this. Eating the meat on it's own is good too but there are so many side dishes and vegetables to go with it that it will be such a waste to eat the meat neat. Hmm, I guess this is why Daddy didn't like it; he felt it was a waste to not eat the other food yet he can't find enough courage to stomach so much greens.

Here are some pictures of the happily-fed people! Cheryl absolutely loves babies! She always wants me to carry babies and she will whisper to me to bring the babies home. You may think that this is a sign for us to become new parents again but our smart little girl will shake her head profusely when you ask her if she wants to be 姐姐. Guess, she is not ready to be a big sister yet.

One thing that impressed all of us was the service rendered to us. We made a mess of our table and when I told the waiter that we wanted a new table for cake cutting, he not only showed us to a new table, he even came with a boxful of party hats and took the initiative to be our camera man. Here we are, smiling to the camera, striking our best poses while screaming "kim chi"!

On Sunday, we had dinner with Grand Daddy, Grand Mummy and all the aunts. The food was great and we had our fill although some of us were complaining that we were full. Hee. Looks like no one can resist good food! And cake for that matter. Daddy even had champagne, thanks to Aunt Diana and Uncle Ben.

After dinner, we went home for cake for the third time.

On Friday, it was Banana cake, Saturday; ice cream cake and Sunday; mango cake. I have never had so many cakes in my life but I love all three of them!

Our humble little family; one taken in the korean restaurant and the latter at home.

Cheryl @ the movies

Several weeks ago, we brought Cheryl to her first movie. Yes, in a REAL cinema; not Daddy's 19" monitor. Cheryl was pretty good for the first hour; she was excited and would exclaim when the action became hot and the music crescended to a climax. After that, she was restless and asked for her milk, and even wanted to walk around.

Daddy and I thought, since we had booked the entire cinema, it would be a good experience for her and us to see how she would behave and I must say, she was alright. When she started fussing, I brought her to the back of the cinema and carried her so that she would not make a ruckus.

Just now, I suddenly remembered that I had Charlotte's Web and thought it would be a good idea to play for her. She thoroughly enjoyed the movie! She was saying "Where pig" all the way. She was very intuned with the music and the atmosphere of the movie and she would move towards the screen when she got excited and crowd away when it got dark and rainy. She even remembered the words "Some pig" on Charlotte's web. At the end of the movie, there was a scene with the web swaying in the wind and although it said "Humble", she promptly said "Oh, some pig".

Oh, she remembered Spidey! When she saw Charlotte, she turned to look at me and asked "Where is spiderman?"
Okay, this means she is ready for more. Shrek 3, here we come!

Us

Okay, I will indulge myself a little and post pictures of Daddy and myself. Daddy recently got new glasses and I must say this look is very refreshing. He has been wearing rimless glasses for years and I thought we should get something else for a change. Hence the new look. I must say, it suits him pretty well and he does look younger.

Here is Daddy clowning around. This is the man I married; fun and at times, kRaZy!
