C was on medical leave and when she was feeling better, she said she wanted to do work. She had previously completed her homework so I had to come up with something. Glancing through her Science worksheets, I realised we could do this simple experiment.
These were the things needed for the experiment. A container of water, large amount of salt and and egg.

Then C mixed in the salt... .
Cheryl was really amazed when she saw the egg floating in the water.

hi there, natalie, wow, cheryl is so lucky! thanks for sharing these science experiments ideas cos I've not been doing much with J recently. But you've given me new ideas with her :) Where do you get these from and do you explain to her the reason why the egg floats?
hello byihui
:)
i printed some science worksheets for c and one of the exercises in there requires her to do this simple experiment. a follow up to this experiment would be to drop other items like coin and what not into the water and see if they float too.
i did try to explain but of course i did away with the bombastic words like "density". i told her the salt changes the water. haha.
