Cheryl has always enjoyed Josiah's holiday programmes and she asked me if she could attend this year. I know that Josiah still accepted children up to ages 9 so we didn't hesitate in signing her up.

Cheryl learned how to make many traditional cakes and food. This was epok epok and kueh pisang. She liked the epok epok a lot but saved 2 for Daddy and me. 

Nasi lemak and onde onde were some other food she came back with. She commented that cooking nasi lemak was an easy task because she followed instructions and had a recipe to follow. 

Cheryl loved the dessert, bubur chacha. She particularly enjoyed cutting up the ingredients. However, she didn't like the yam. "I like getting my hands dirty!" C said. Looks like she will enjoy cooking in the future.

Cheryl loved to play Congkak with her friends. This set of congkak is rather modern looking. A more authentic looking congkak would look like this and it's usually played with marbles.

She also played other traditional games like hopscotch and chapteh.

Cheryl made her five-stones and learned to play them too! She was also introduced to yet another traditional game, chapteh.

The children made and painted their own kite which they flew when they went out on an excursion. C's kite!

C made and painted her own kampong house as well. 

Josiah took the children out to the last surviving kampong in Singapore and it was really an experience of a kind. C commented that the houses were different and that there were no tall buildings. There was also a lot of space for them to run around too. 

It was a fun-filled week of activities and like the past, C had a joyful time with her teachers and friends. When the programme came to an end on Friday, C said that she would like to sign up for the year end programme. :) 

It's the school holidays again and like always, I signed C up for Josiah's holiday programme. This time, the theme was "When Books Come Alive". After a fun-filled experience the previous time, Brion and Jing Heng joined C too.

The 5-day camp comprises of games, craft and cooking sessions! Here they were playing with games devised from the stories.

C made so many things and this was my favourite. Mashed potatoes but she managed to shape them into an adorable duckling.

Witches fingers from sausages. There were many other food but she ate them all before I could take pictures.

After a week-long of activities, it was time for them to bid each other farewell. Till June next year!

With this ceremony, it marks the end of Cheryl's pre-school years. These past months, C and her peers were busy preparing for this big day. 

Precious received her graduation certificate and after the singing of the national anthem, the concert began.

Daddy and I have always been impressed with the performances put up by the children. It didn't matter whether they were in the nursery or kindergarten classes. All the children gave their best and danced the evening away.

Precious in her princess gown. Yes Precious, every girl can be a princess and we were positive we weren't the only proud parents there. She moved with such grace and elegance.

C did another dance and this item took our breath away. We could tell that Precious enjoyed every bit of time she was on stage.

It has been a wonderful 3.5 years. C joined Josiah Montessori when she was 3.5 years old and we really felt that it was the best thing we could have given Cheryl. She loved her friends and her teachers and very importantly, the teachers were nurturing and taught the children to be independent and inquisitive learners. 

This year has been an exciting one for C. Not only did she cover the academics, she also did a lot of projects with her peers.

C worked on several projects over the year and she started with mapping skills. Together, they learned to look at objects in their classroom first.

Then it was out of the school into the neighbourhood.

Precious had to do a journal entry for each of her project and I must say, she enjoys this part best. She has a journal book which she treasures and she has been carrying it with her every where she goes since Ms Novelle returned the book.

Project Recycling. C and her peers went outdoors to pick up litter and put them into the recycling bins. 

This was the best, C claimed because they were the ones who told Ms Novelle they wanted to create a petrol pump. 

The children took the task seriously and worked together as a team to make the details of the pump.

The final product and they were so proud of themselves and what they had accomplished. This was displayed at the entrance of the school for viewing. :)

Precious has grown so much over the years and from a young and bashful girl, she has blossomed into a fine young lady.
