Mersing

We woke up very early and got ready to go to Mersing; with my colleagues. It was some sort of a retreat for staff and me, being a member of the Staff Welfare Committee, had to go by default, read: NOT my choice! Ha ha

Okay, Daddy didn't have to drive so he would not be too tired and it was Cheryl's first coach trip. We must say, she was very well behaved much to our surprise and the bouncing onboard the coach was "sleeping pill" for Cheryl because she would fall asleep in 20 minutes flat.

Daddy keeping himself occupied along the journey and Cheryl too, enjoying the sights and whatever she could get her hands on.
We visited several spots like the mushroom farm and an organic farm and here are some pictures of the stuff we saw. It is really amazing to see such plants grow and except for the weather which was unforgiving, all went well.

This is a new way to eat steamed tapioca, we discovered. Apparently, locals eat it with sambal. Initially, we were rather hesitant to try it, I mean we have always eaten it with coconut milk and but it didn't taste that bad.
It was really like a food trail because we literally ate our way there and back, though the food was nothing to rave about. Nevertheless, it filled our stomachs. Along the way, there were plantations and various fruit tress like durians and it was an eye-opener to some of the people we were travelling with. Daddy and I weren't particularly thrilled because we are rather frequent travellers to Cameron Highlands and these are not new to us. But I guess, having Cheryl with us made the difference because she was impressed with some of the things she saw.

We finally checked in to the hotel in the evening and by then, we were all tired. Here is Daddy doing his Cleopatra impersonation and Cheryl dutifully feeding him.
The next day, we visited a fruit farm and saw more fruits and some domesticated animals in their mini farm.

Cheryl could do a good impersonation of a goat! We ended the 2Day 1 Night trip with shopping at Jusco in Johor Bahru. So we walked around for 2 hours, hardly did any shopping because we didn't have anything to get. We arrived back in Singapore in the evening and after dinner, drove ourselves back home.
We had a quick shower and jumped straight into bed. Unpacking, that can wait... .
