Okay, this sounds like a big name... actually it is a congenital condition where the little finger, sometimes the ring finger, is held in fixed in a flexed position. Cheryl's left thumb is always in a fixed position and we realised it sometime in June.
When I brought her down to the doc the last time, Doc advised us to give her constant massages to loosen the muscles. Because it is her thumb, it is kind of tricky as really, the hand is useless if the thumb is not functioning. Thankfully, Cheryl can do everything normally with her left hand. On rare occasions, the thumb will be in a relaxed position.
I took this pictures while she was asleep. You can clearly see the difference between the right and left thumbs.

If her condition does not improve, Doc suggested her going for surgery to "release" the tendon.

If you don't mind me asking, how old was your duaghter when you noticed her thumb and when did you get help? My 6 month old son has had this problem on his right ring finger for 5 months that we know about. We went to Shriners and they did nto even look at it or take x-rays. They just told us to come back when he was one and to straighten it out every day. But it hurts him when we straighten it. We are going to a different doctor here soon to have it looked at.

we noticed her condition when she was slightly over a yr old. i don't recall the hospital / doc taking any x-rays too but we were taught how to straighten out her thumb. yes, it hurt her but every time, her thumb gets locked, she would scream for us. now, she even knows how to straighten out her thumb herself.
the doc did make a splint for her thumb. she had to wear it at night.
