Princess' Party!

Last year we told C that we would throw her a big party as it would be her last birthday celebration until she turns 21 years old. Last month, she sat me down to work on her guest list and though our initial plan was to have a simple fare, the guest list ballooned to 70 people and I told Daddy that there was no way we could barbecue for so many people.

So plan was shelved.

And Princess got her big party again. Hahahaha

The children were well engaged with their craft work and face painting.

Door tags, which the children painted.

The children also got their balloons and Daddy couldn't resist and requested for Papa Smurf. :) Papa Smurf stole the show and became a hot item.

Some of our guests :)

Aunt Justina, Valerie, Aidah and Uncle Lee also came. :)

God Grand parents and popo

Aunt Linda, looking so pleased with the flowers.

Oh dinner! The food was great and like the previous time we ordered, the food was all cleaned out. We were happy that our guests had their fill.

Cheryl's cake. Smurfs! She adores them and requested for a Smurf cake this year.

Happy Birthday, Precious! :)

She was so happy!

Princess with popo and Uncle Roy.

Just look at the number of presents she received. She slept really late that night... .

That evening, we also celebrated Victoria and Aunt Angie's birthdays. Despite it being their special day, they came for the party too and we really appreciate them being there.

English in Term 1 2012

A summary of what C has done for English.

Her weekly Spelling for Term 1 and she has been performing well in school.

C definitely adores her Creative Writing sessions and she always wants to show us her completed work. :)

What's the weather in Perth?

Needs a sponsor

Precious started golf in September 2010 and since then she has worn out at least 3 sets of gloves.

Each glove used to last her 6 months. Daddy and I bought the latest set sometime in November last year and now, there is a big hole in it. Haha. I was telling C that we should get her a sponsor soon at the rate that she is wearing her glove down. :)

homework online!

Online assignments and homework are becoming a norm in school and C like all school-going children, has to as well. Her teachers would upload various reading and writing tasks and C and her classmates are expected to log in at home to get them done.

Daddy taught her to use the "Alt Shift" keys to  alternate between English and Chinese languages so that she could type her Mandarin characters and spell in hanyu pinyin. She took the tasks seriously and in the evenings, she would remind me that her online homework needed to be done too.

Responsibilities

When C was in K2, Ms Novelle, her teacher then got the children accustomed to some of the routines in Primary School. C was voted in as the class monitress then.

This year, Mrs Lim, Precious' form teacher who teaches the class English, Math, Social Studies and Art, appointed C to be the subject monitress for Math in term 1. She was also given that honor by her Chinese teacher. C told us that Mrs Lim would roster other children for the role. This term, C took over as English Rep and retained her position for Chinese.

We told her that it was because she did a great job and her teachers must have thought so too to appoint her again for the roles. :)

For C, she is just pleased with herself and she declared that she would continue to help her teachers with the collecting and distributing of books and worksheets amongst the others.

Guess, a little responsibility does give children purpose and focus. :)

Good job!

Even though there aren't any examinations for Primary 1 children, what they do have is 'Check points'. They are assessment of what the children have learnt.

This is the latest. C scored full marks for her assessment, much to our delight. Well, we have always reminded her to be careful as she tends to be rather forgetful and careless. Previous assessments had her missing 1/2 or 1 mark because she had omitted a sum.

She insisted on Daddy Dearest signing her assessment this time round. :)

Link-ed!

I bought C her first Ez-Link card when she was slightly older than 2 years because she was taller than the 90 cm mark. Since then she had been using that card whenever we used public transport. In January, C had her mug shot taken in school and then this evening, she returned with this:

She is so cute! :) and the first thing I said when I saw it was "Still chubby!" But I also noticed that her hair was so neatly tied, all thanks to Daddy Dearest, who has the honour of doing her hair every morning before he leaves for work. This is a feat for him considering that he has never done anything this complicated. Haha. He only learned to tie her hair last 2 years back when he was able to send C to Josiah.

Precious was excited and kept reminding me to top up her card. :)

Always a first

I guess there is a first for everything. I bought her these:
Nope, not that Precious needs them. Though she is in Primary 1, homework from school isn't a problem and she is able to complete them. However there are evenings where there aren't any homework and she would be bored so these assessment books are really to keep her occupied. :)

I am not about to 'complain' to the School about this 'lack of homework' thing because honestly I am pretty happy the way things are. C can't be working on her Math workbooks so it's best she has extras to do.

Why only Math and Mandarin? She adores her 好朋友 and would do all the exercises in them though she is only required to finish some. This evening, she did a total of 10 pages worth and would have continued had I not stopped her.

As for English,
she takes initiative and has started a journal somewhat. She is always with a note pad and scribbling things or sketching. She recently did an article on 'My Heroine' and she wrote about another one of her favorite teachers, completely different from the one she submitted. :) I guess I don't have to worry about English then. :)

Turning 36...

Each day, I count my blessings and I thank God... .

My lovely sisters and Mummy celebrated my birthday with a dinner outdoors and with this heavenly tasting cake.
My birthday celebrations started on Sunday. :) with this Lychee Martini Cake from Pine Gardens. My sisters know how much I adore this cake. Hee

I love this collage!

The children were the happiest :)

On Monday after our breakfast at Ikea, Princess insisted on having a cake for me so we headed out to The Icing Room. She had initially planned on getting the large cake but I had to tell her that small is cute. haha.

On Wednesday we went on a outing with Aunt Ven and Aunt Maureen and the ladies were really sweet to give us a treat for lunch.

We went to Grand Mummy's place in the evening and I was served this really delicious bowl of mee sua. *tearing*

And just this afternoon, Aunt Angie also gave us a treat for lunch.

Thank you, my friends, my sisters, Mummy Dearest and of course, my husband and Precious. I also want to thank all of you who had sent me your blessings and well wishes either on Facebook or on my mobile. I am really thankful. Hug.

practising for her exam

C's ballet exam is coming up in April and she has been attending extra class for close to 6 months now. It is always a mad rush to get her to class during the week days because she would only alight from her ride from school at 7.30pm. Then Daddy and I would whisk her off to her class, with C changing into her ballet gear in the car and then chomping down a slice of bread.

This evening, I brought her to her class and caught her in action.

She seems good. :) Ms Blue is an exceptional teacher: she is dedicated and C who has been with her since she was 3 years old has developed a love for ballet. :)

Little Artists

Aunt Ven suggested we go to this really chic place and I could understand why... :)

The children were literally jumping for joy when they learned of what they would be doing.

They were supposed to be painting while the Mummies sipped English tea ...

But it was definitely more fun watching the kiddos work so we spent all of the time with them. Many a times, we couldn't help but did some of the painting ourselves. Aunt Ven was saying that she would drop by another day to do her own canvas and I thought it was a fantastic idea.

C's dolphin frolicking in the moon light.
