Mickey!

I realised that I didn't post pictures of the Mickey Musical that we caught during the September break.

The girls posing just before the show started.

C enjoyed the musical thoroughly, and as she watched her favourite characters prance and dance on stage. She was particularly dazzled with the princesses as they sang their songs and did their acts.

Out it came!

2 weeks back, we paid Dr Kong a visit and when I mentioned to her our concern that her adult tooth was cutting through, her advice to us was to return when it happened. C mentioned over the weekend that she felt a slight pain and upon inspection, we saw that it had indeed erupted so I made an appointment to go down this afternoon.

Her tooth sprouting behind her milk teeth. I was worried that we had to remove 2 teeth to accommodate this one.

Dr examining C and then applied some numbing gel on her gums.

She gave C's gums a good massage before she started. C did not show any fear or fidget as Dr had instructed her to keep her eyes close. She then slowly injected her gums.

All the time, Dr was talking to C and she was extremely calm.

Then, she proceeded to extract her tooth. C commented that she felt a slight pain but Dr assured her that it would be over in a second. So with a little twitching and twisting, the milk tooth was out.

I had a great fright when I saw it while Dr nodded her head and said it was no wonder her tooth wasn't shaky. The entire root was intact and she said that C had good teeth! Haha! If we would to let nature runs its course, this tooth would take a good 6 to 12 months before it would fall off.

Dr cleaning C up.

C's tooth was placed in this cute "tooth coffin" and she was saying that now she has a hole in her teeth. C was alright except when the gauze soaked through and droplets of saliva and blood dripped on her dress, staining it. But I gave her a big hug and praised her for her bravery.

The very cute tooth coffin, which C wore as a bracelet.

I bought her this to keep all her milk teeth.

:) C said she would be waiting for the Tooth Fairy to make her maiden visit tonight.

Got our tixs!

This is Cheryl's final year with Josiah and we will not miss it for the world.

Cheryl has made steady progress under the guidance of her teachers and she has had a fruitful experience.

When her teachers made known that we could purchase tickets for the Annual Concert and Graduation, Daddy wasted no time and we got our tickets. :)

We are looking forward to her performance. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Cheryl's garden

Cheryl's latest art piece.

She said it was a place mat. :) But I think it is too pretty to be one. Haha.

food art!

This gives new meaning to "playing with your food"!

Aunt Ellena, a friend on Facebook, decided to have a session of pizza and bento making and I jumped at the chance because I had always wanted to learn to make bento. I asked Cheryl if she wanted to join the session as she had so badly wanted to make pizza last week and she agreed.

So this morning, we trooped down to Aunt Ellena's place.

tools of the trade and of course, the ingredients needed.

The session began with Aunt Ellena giving instructions to the children.

C had tried her hands on normal pizza making before but this was something new as she got to design the pizza.

C's pizza before it was popped into the oven.

The pizza sure looked delicious.

Then it was bento making time.
For bento making, it is important that different kinds of food are included. There must be meat, rice and vegetables and lastly fruits. But this time round, we left the fruits out.

Since it was an "Angry Bird" theme that C was making, the rice had to be coloured red and she did it with tomato sauce. Alternatively, you can fry the tomato rice but since the children was doing it, adding ketchup was definitely easier to manage.

The rice was moulded into balls and then pressed together to form the body of Mr Angry Bird.

Then it was setting up the rest of the bento.

Mr Angry Bird was taking shape here.

And there you have it!

It is definitely not an easy task making it. There was a lot of details to pay attention to and many procedures and tools or rather ingredients needed. But C had a lot of fun making this bento and she was happy with her efforts.

This bento was her lunch! :)

Moonies and lantern!

Last Thursday, I received a mailer about some activities held at Downtown East during this one week break in September and I thought that C would enjoy making lantern and moon cakes. Hence I quickly emailed the person-in-charge and asked for details regarding registration.

Then last evening, I received a call which informed me that C's registration had gone through. :)

So this morning, she got up bright and early and we headed down to the venue.

At 10 am, she was all ready to begin her activity.

The materials she needed to make the lantern.

Then I left her to hide somewhere to finish up my marking. When I returned some time past noon, she had already completed her lantern and even had lunch.

C with her lantern here.

These were just some others created by her friends.

It was break time for them too and I managed to capture a shot of some of the children involved in the camp. These girls were older than Precious but they took her in and they were happily chatting and playing away.

Then around 2 in the afternoon, they returned for their moon cake making session.

The children were taught to make the snow skin from scratch and they had a whale of a time mixing and stirring.

Then a little colour was added to the snow skin to give it that peachy glow and the children got down to making their moonies.

C was pretty serious as she did her moon cakes. She was able to follow instructions though the dough was initially a little difficult to handle. After the first moon cake, she got the hang of it and was able to complete all five moon cakes.

She was extremely pleased with herself. :)

To end it off, there was ice cream for dessert and...

time for reflection. C and her mates penned down their thoughts of the event and they were glad that they had made new friends.

A certificate to remember the occasion. :)

Precious was beat when she got back. On the bus ride home, she fell asleep momentarily and had to be awaken as we arrived at our stop. No wonder as she had been running around in the indoor playground. But she smiled when she recollected how meaningful the session was and the new things she had learnt.

Dr! Dr!

Daddy and I suspect that C's new teeth are cutting through. Well, this is good if she had gotten rid of her milk teeth but ... .

Since this is the term break and I have some time to spare, I made an appointment to go down to Smileworks to visit C's favourite dentist.

This was her third visit and by this time, she was all so familiar with the procedure and knew exactly what to expect.

X-ray of my teeth. Dr Khong suggested I do a thorough check on my teeth to see if there were any infection especially with the root and I thought it was a good idea. Thankfully, everything came out clear. :)

C getting her Topical Fluoride treatment done after her polishing. This was applied to her teeth and it was to provide a protection kind of like a shield for her teeth. As for her sprouting new teeth, Dr took a look and said that it was alright. Besides, Precious' milk teeth were not shaky and Dr didn't see a need for extraction at this moment.

Precious with her reward after her check. :)
