reversal of roles...

You know how parents would call up to check on their children; whether they had eaten, had taken their naps, had completed their homework? Well, I am not such a parent and I hardly call C up during the day when I am at work. However, it is Cheryl who does the checking up.

I am not complaining because when it was term time, she would often ring me to remind me that she had a class at 6.45pm and that it was 6 in the evening and I was not home yet. Now that she is on holiday, she would call me endlessly to ask when I would be back.

Today, I had to return to work as there was a meeting I had to attend and she called me at 9 in the morning to ask me to come home quick. I had to tell her that the meeting was important to which she retorted, "Can you tell your boss that your daughter is more important?" She makes sense, doesn't she?

I foresee her writing letters to my bosses in the future... .
Content of letter:

"Please excuse my mummy from work today as she has to spend time with me."

:)

and a bunny is born...

Aunt Ven and Aunt Xin brought the children out after their holiday class was over and C was extremely happy that she could spend time with her friends. :)

The trio enjoying lunch!

C had wanted to go to Aunt Ven's place for a swim with her friends but I was beat after a day's work but I made it up to her.

I asked if she wanted to make her own plush doll.

She picked a bunny and then got started. The bunny was first stuffed with filling.

There after, C gave it a good "wash". She brushed the bunny carefully to made sure that all her body was covered.

Then it was time to dress the bunny.

There were so many costumes to choose from and after several change of clothes, C picked the one which was most colourful. She loves colours!

And a bunny was born. C named her Natasha.

Aunt Justina who was with us indulged C and got Natasha another set of costumes: Princess Aurora's gown, like the one that C bought from our trip to Disneyland in Hong Kong, and a passport.

"Thank you, Aunt Justina!" :)

"When Books Come Alive"

It's the school holidays again and like always, I signed C up for Josiah's holiday programme. This time, the theme was "When Books Come Alive". After a fun-filled experience the previous time, Brion and Jing Heng joined C too.

The children. :)

The 5-day camp comprises of games, craft and cooking sessions! Here they were playing with games devised from the stories.

C obviously having a good time, pretending to dance like a duck.

Cooking time!

C made so many things and this was my favourite. Mashed potatoes but she managed to shape them into an adorable duckling.

Witches fingers from sausages. There were many other food but she ate them all before I could take pictures.

C's cookie house, which she loved.

Craft time where she made several things as well.

like the house made of straw from The 3 Little Pigs.

The children brought their favorite book for the session too.

After a week-long of activities, it was time for them to bid each other farewell. Till June next year!

It's summer!

From a person who has lived her entire life in a tropical country, you would think that we would jump at the chance to go on a wintry holiday. But when Daddy asked if we wanted to go to Mauritius, I agreed immediately. Haha!

So, summer is apparently the best time of the year to pay Mauritius a visit and we will be getting our sunblock ready.

I am usually not a beach person but I can get used to this. :)

And the resort we would be putting up in. Hmmm.... I think we will have a fabulous time there already!

Orientation!

We have been waiting for this day... .

Today, we went to PLMGS for C's Primary One Orientation. We got up early and after breakfast, headed out to the school.

We were early but there were already many parents and children there. After registering our attendance, we collected some forms and proceeded into the Hall.

Mrs Lim, C's form teacher and right after her name was ticked, she joined her new classmates. The teacher and some prefects then brought the children to their classroom.

We were in the hall and the presentation started. After the talk, we went on to settle some administrative matters. C would be taking the school bus and as I had already bought the books and uniforms, we only needed to pick up some extra items like the handbook.

The new school building. PLMGS is currently undergoing renovation works to expand its compound. Come 2013, the school would run as a single-session school. We also learned that C would have the comfort of air-conditioned classrooms when she starts Primary 1.

C was with her classmates and form teacher and she was given an assessment. C said she aced it! Haha! She was very excited and said she has even made friends with a girl in class. Daddy and I are heartened.  :)

Cheryl's Graduation and Concert 2011

With this ceremony, it marks the end of Cheryl's pre-school years. These past months, C and her peers were busy preparing for this big day.

Precious received her graduation certificate and after the singing of the national anthem, the concert began.

Daddy and I have always been impressed with the performances put up by the children. It didn't matter whether they were in the nursery or kindergarten classes. All the children gave their best and danced the evening away.

Precious in her princess gown. Yes Precious, every girl can be a princess and we were positive we weren't the only proud parents there. She moved with such grace and elegance.

C did another dance and this item took our breath away. We could tell that Precious enjoyed every bit of time she was on stage.

After the performance,
Precious is such a doll. :)

C with her teachers, Ms Novelle and Ms Nabi.

It has been a wonderful 3.5 years. C joined Josiah Montessori when she was 3.5 years old and we really felt that it was the best thing we could have given Cheryl. She loved her friends and her teachers and very importantly, the teachers were nurturing and taught the children to be independent and inquisitive learners.

Class of 2011

This year has been an exciting one for C. Not only did she cover the academics, she also did a lot of projects with her peers.

C worked on several projects over the year and she started with mapping skills. Together, they learned to look at objects in their classroom first.

Then it was out of the school into the neighbourhood.

Precious had to do a journal entry for each of her project and I must say, she enjoys this part best. She has a journal book which she treasures and she has been carrying it with her every where she goes since Ms Novelle returned the book.

Project Recycling. C and her peers went outdoors to pick up litter and put them into the recycling bins.

This was the best, C claimed because they were the ones who told Ms Novelle they wanted to create a petrol pump.

The children took the task seriously and worked together as a team to make the details of the pump.

The final product and they were so proud of themselves and what they had accomplished. This was displayed at the entrance of the school for viewing. :)

Precious has grown so much over the years and from a young and bashful girl, she has blossomed into a fine young lady.

The graduand. Daddy and I love this picture very much indeed. "Well done, our little one. We are confident you will move on to greater things."
