all packed...

Today is the third day into Term 3 yet Precious hasn't gone back to school.

Her school bag was all packed yesterday but C is now still sleeping away because she wasn't able to rest well last night.

Her temperature suddenly went up on Monday morning and Daddy brought C to the doc. She was given 2 days off and even though C tended to recover fast, this time round, the bug seemed more stubborn than usual.

We collected her homework from school and last evening, she sat down to complete them. I saw that she has started to learn the concept of money. And this reminded me of something I prepared for her a long time ago. I had printed and cut out specimen of the dollar notes and coins of different denomination for the purpose of counting. With that, we would play our "Shopping" game.
Though still running a temperature, she managed to finish her assignment and went on to pack her bag.

This morning when I was getting ready to go to work, I went to check on her and realised that she was burning up; so high that she vomited. Sigh... she would have to stay in today as well. We are praying that she recovers quickly.

Journal

We sat ourselves down to pen down Cheryl's thoughts about our recent trip to Kuantan. Ms Novelle got the children in school to write journal entries about their excursions too so I thought it would be a good idea to continue the exercise. just us...

The school holidays are coming to an end soon. Daddy and I thought that before it did, we should just spend some quality time with ourselves.

It was a wonderful meal. :)

The food was exceptional!

C's kid's meal! The food came in a cute bento tier and when C opened it to reveal what was inside, she was in awe. It was an extremely large portion and Daddy and I had to help her finish her maki. But she ate all of the udon, even finished up the entire bowl of soup.

Daddy and I had our share of noodles.

And of course. We finally managed to catch the much talked about movie: Kung Fu Panda 2.

Off she goes...

This evening, C has a break from her music class as it was the semester break. Daddy, however, returned from work at the same time as he usually did on Tuesday and he told Spark that he would take her down to the void deck to cycle.

When C came to me to ask me along, I saw that Daddy had removed her training wheels.

Our cycling session lasted only 30 minutes! I was expecting a lot longer because this was the first time that C would be cycling without her training wheels and I thought that it would take a lot longer than 30 minutes to learn to ride a bicycle. And how wrong was I because Cheryl took to the 2-wheeler like she had been practising for a long time. I was relating my own experience, commenting on the numerous times I fell and lamenting that it was a painful process. Ha ha.

Daddy and I concluded that it was because of the first "bike" I bought her; her G bike! Cheryl was very good on that and she was zooming off every time she was on it. That must be how she learned to balance herself so well and hence had no issue with a 2-wheeler.

Stage cleared!

Cheryl's swim coach reminded us that there was a swimming test coming up some weeks back and she commented that C was not a strong swimmer and hence she might not be able to clear the stage. Daddy and I were okay with her assessment because we were there all throughout her lessons and we saw for ourselves that she wasn't quite ready too.

Then this Saturday, it suddenly dawned on us that the swimming test was today!

We were surprised that C took part in the test and we were even more surprised that she performed very well. So well in fact, she cleared the stage. :) So instead of a 6 months duration, Precious managed to move up in 3 months.

Needless to say, C was very pleased with herself as well. Daddy and I just have two words for her, "Well done!" :)

Kuantan 2011 (Part 3)

Our final day at Kuantan.

After breakfast, the children took their final dip in the Hotel pool before we checked out.

They are quite good with their balancing act. :)

Kuantan is along the eastern coast of Peninsula Malaysia and these are just some of the local produce that the State is famous for. Grand Mummy loves the salt fish and we knew we had to get our hands on some before we headed home. The ikan bilis were fresh and very tasty too.

Lunch was at an eatery recommended by the shop owner. We had asked him where was the best place for lunch and he told us about this place. True to his words, the noodles were tasty and the fried otah was fabulous!

This is why the eastern coast is known as the "Scenic East"

We traveled down crossing towns like Mersing and Kota Tinggi.

Before we dropped Grand Mummy off at her place, she commented that she had a good time. I was thankful... . She also told us that Grand Daddy hadn't been to Sungai Lembing and neither had she. In a way, this road trip reminded me of those that Grand Daddy used to take us; when I was 12 , Grand Daddy took us on a road trip from Johore, then up the eastern coast and to Penang, before headed south back to our home town. The entire road trip took us slightly more than 1 week.

That night, I told Grand Daddy that where he couldn't take Grand Mummy, he could count on us to do so and we would try our best. Daddy and I were also grateful for our friends who made this trip a great one. Though I did have a regret and that was we couldn't see any turtles.

Kuantan 2011 (Part 2)

This was what greeted us when we looked out of our window.

The children were all ready for their next activity.

Five minutes down from where our hotel was a Cultural Centre that we did batik painting.

And while the children were busy painting, the Mums and Dads made their own music.

And of course, we caught some professionals at work.

The entire batik making process was taking place at the very Centre and it was an eye-opening for us who hadn't a clue how these beautiful and colourful fabrics came about.

Then it was off to the Turtle Sanctuary.

Baby turtles!

"They are so cute!" exclaimed Precious.

This was where the turtle eggs were buried and they would hatch in time.

We spent the rest of the afternoon having some crazy fun at the beach! While the children were with their Daddies in the pool...

:)

Our dinner was settled at a nearby Pek So Seafood Restaurant and then after, we feasted on durians that Grand Mummy and I managed to get.

We went back to the Turtle Sanctuary hoping to catch turtles laying eggs but the tide was low and the Ranger told us that it would be 4 am before the tide came in. Rather disappointed, we returned to the Hotel.

Daddy comforted me by saying that we could always make another road trip back in the future. Well, I am embedding this video; if we had been lucky...
