new art piece

Our Precious never gets tired of drawing butterflies and flowers...

Her latest art piece.

What has she been up to?

C's regular work in Josiah.

For Mandarin, there is definitely more writing exercises.

Math exercises. C has been working on more problem sums.

And for English, more exercises and practices on "verbs"- past tense for plural and singular nouns.

telling time

I want to teach C to tell time... from a normal clock. Previously, C had been rather excited about getting a digital watch and reading time off because she knew her numbers.

These days, she would bargain with her when I wanted her to go take her bath and she would say, "5 more minutes" and when I came to her again after 5 minutes, she would be like "so fast?" Other times, she would ask me to read the time off our clock on the wall and ask me questions like why did I say it was "4.15" when she didn't see the number "15" on the face of the clock.

Hence Daddy got her this aid. What we liked about it; the minutes were clearly printed on the clock face and when C gets to learn to read international time too. Nice!

A toy recycled.

This was a toy that C used when she was much younger. I had this in her diaper bag at all times because it kept her entertained in the car or while waiting for lunch and dinner to be served.

Long before the days of the iPad, we had this magnetic writing board which C doodled on.

These days, we used the board for another purpose; we would revise C's spelling in the car when we travelled hence Daddy suggested C writes on the board. :)

different sorts of puzzles...

Most evenings, C would spend them learning up on her spelling. This evening, we managed to throw in some puzzle solving activities.

Word search! C was thrilled when she "discovered" the words.

We also learned to do grid reading.

Baby Jun Zhi is 1!

We were invited for Baby Jun Zhi's first birthday party.
"Happy Birthday!"

not too bad...

4.5 months later after her first lesson at golf playing, C has made much progress.

Good job! But of course, C has her moods; some times, she needs a lot of encouragement while others, she seems to be on the high and manages to hit every ball. Well, we just want her to enjoy herself. :)

it's been a year...

Time really flies...

It was only when this came in the mail that we realised C had been with Little Artist for a year.
Teacher Moe had given us an update of C's progress in class and how she has been coping. She also provided us with the syllabus and informed us of what would be covered this year. Daddy and I hadn't expected this initially when we signed her up for art class but this was very much welcomed.

We will likely let her continue with the class since C loves it. :)

"Happy Family"

C did a reading for another Reader she brought back.

The Readers for children in the K2 level are definitely more wordy but I guess like all exercises, fluency and accuracy and the difficulty level do become more manageable when she practises more. :)

Happy Valentine's Day 2011

The first time C did when I got back was to run to me, excitedly waving a note in her hands...
Her first love note!

It actually got me quite flustered because I wasn't expecting her to be receiving such letters at her age. Then she revealed that it was Renee (and not a boy... phew!) who had done the card for her. I managed a smile and told her it was a pretty card. (I really meant it! Ha ha!)

That evening, C sat herself down to make her favourite teacher, Miss Novelle a card too.
From a teacher to another, I can understand completely how it feels to receive such a gift from someone under our charge. And it is heartening to know that C feels this way about her teacher.

hmmm... mm...

... Just us...
Love this shot of the 2 of them...

Grand Daddy and Grand Mummy's A, B, C! All precious in our eyes as well.

Asher reminds me of Aunt Di. Although every one says he is a carbon copy of his daddy, Ben, he does resemble his mummy too.

Brycen, the latest addition to our family.

 Lovely!

The four of us. :)
and our dinner. Aunt Di and Grand Mummy prepared this massive dish, 盆菜. We had always wanted to try this dish hence our dearerst Grand Mummy decided that we would savour it in the cozy setting of our home.
And thank you, Aunt Di, for giving us a run-through of how to prepare this dish.

craft from school

One of the many activities C does in school and I am sure this is definitely one of her favourite.
To think that she had used such simple materials to make this beautiful scroll.

C's Valentine's Day gift to us! :)

Daddy whispered to C that since she had written the greetings in pencil, he could erase it and then replace the words with "Mummy, Happy Valentine's Day, From Daddy"

Nice try, Dear!

our ride got infected too!

Some months back, we were contemplating changing our ride but ... to cut the long story short, we didn't in the end. :)

And every year, especially during the New Year, I would dress us up as a family. We had our shirts personalised and I didn't let our ride get away this year.

We were attempting our mightest to follow the decal on the rear wind screen... hahaha

Nice!

O2C!

When I went for Josiah's curriculum update last month, I learned of a new project that the school has crafted for the pupils. The teachers have aptly named it O2C - Out-of-School Learning Experience.

Several weeks back, C went for her first O2C to the playground, and get this, to learn English. C recounted that the children went around the playground to identify nouns beginning with certain sounds that they had learned in class. For example, the children went around hunting for nouns beginning with the "sh" sound and they were sharp enough to point out "shadow" on the ground.

This afternoon, C went to NTUC Fairprice to learn Mathematics and the concept of "more than", "less than" and she also did counting with the fruits and vegetables. She was raving about what she did at the supermarket and how fun it was and I could not help smiling because she had clearly enjoyed herself and more importantly, her lessons in school.

gone visiting

Our get-up this year! The family of Mr and Little Miss... :)

Daddy took a picture of C at the playground.

We went to Grand Aunt Monique's place in the evening and C was all hands-on making kueh pai ti. This was the first time she did it but that didn't stop her. In fact, she went on to make as many as 10 that evening.
Not bad at all, Princess. :)
