C loves Mussels!

The thing about Nature is, when we are truly in tune with her, she really provides the best kind of entertainment. I still remember those times when we were children and our family outings were mostly to the beach where Grand Uncle Joe threw the net for prawns, crabs and fish.

This time round, Grand Uncle Joe came with his boat...

Grand Uncle Joe is always prepared.

The rest of us enjoyed our breakfast while Grand Uncle Joe and Steve, together with Ben went out into the sea. The spread was really something and we were chilling out and having a good time ourselves.

Daddy and Grand Uncle Joe getting the boat ready...

Grand Aunt Yvonne was here too! (all the way from Germany) :)

After like what seemed ages.... the catch!

C and Aunt Dallas were naturally thrilled and asked to go on the boat. This time, Daddy went along.

Oh, then the Grand Aunts got busy...
Grand Mummy prepared the fish too so we had a great time feasting on the ultra-fresh seafood!
This really is the best part, although I think the "fishermen" Grand Uncles felt that being out there in the waters was the ultimate.
Cheryl has learned to appreciate mussels and she absolutely loves them! She was eating one after another and could have easily downed 10 of them. Can't blame her when these beauties were so sweet and fresh and even though it was the first time she had them, she didn't reject the new taste. :)

She wait so long .... C wanted to go down and start her digging for more mussels and clams and crabs but the rain came down on us and cut short our outing. Naturally C was disappointed but she admitted that she had fun and would want to do it again. :)

Mid Year Review 2010

It's review time at Josiah and this morning, just before I headed off to work, I dropped by to pay Ms Novelle a visit. This year, Ms Novelle returned some of C's completed work and updated me with C's progress over the half a year period.
C, clearly enjoying herself in class. She loves the beam!

Learning Corner, another one of her favourite places in the classroom. She usually goes there after she has completed her work.

Craft ...
Math...

Story book time...
and Chinese.

Where she learned about the Continents...

and landscape.

and then...
Ms Novelle commented that C is good with her English and in fact, she is one of the best in class. However, she advised that we continue to do whatever reading and exercises nightly. She also said that we should reinforce "Nouns" and "Verbs". Ms Novelle gave me a projected syllabus of C's English curriculum and said that "Prepositions" will be taught in term 4 but she thinks C will make enough progress in term 3 for her to bring forward her syllabus.

"Great job, Precious!"

"My elephant!"

When we first saw the picture, we were wondering what was it that C had drawn.
She loudly exclaimed that it was an elephant and went on to show us where the ears and trunk were. It is a little too abstract, I must say. :)

Aunt Di is (only) 28!

Aunt Di turned 28 recently and we went out for a little celebration in the evening.

Teochew Porridge! We haven't had this in a long time and we ate so much! Well, the food was good and it was also very refreshing to eat steaming, hot porridge. The spread also brought back fond memories...
The delicious banana chocolate cake that Daddy bought for Aunt Di. Wonderful dessert to satisfy our sweet tooth. :)

Cold Storage Kids' Run 2010

We didn't participate in this last year and this year, when the registration of the Cold Storage Kids' Run came on, C said that she wanted to take part hence we signed ourselves up.
C all ready to leave for the venue.
This was where the event was held: F1 pit.
Happy children!
The flag-off was at 940am and C was extremely excited. She kept saying that she would run and do her best and she wanted a medal. The race that she had to do was 800m and Daddy and I were so proud of her because she managed the entire race without stopping until she crossed the finishing line. :)

Oh, of course the coveted medal. It didn't matter that every participant got one even though we weren't the first ones to cross the line but Daddy and I told her that all it mattered was that she did her best.
The fantastic children! There were many proud Daddies and Mummies that day.

now that's life.

There is "whiskey on the rocks", then according to James Bond, there is also "martini-stirred, not shaken". Well, in C's world, she has this:
"Ribena in a bottle"

Recently, she started to ask for her favourite drink in her milk bottle.

What a whale of a sneeze!

I took a video of C's reading this evening. This is just one of the many reading passages she has to do diligently. It's good news that she enjoys reading them.

A writing task on identifying nouns and the different types of nouns.

Ice Cream

Ice Cream art piece C did for art.
C has a thing for "pink".
