More green...

C loves to play on the green. She definitely loves putting and chipping more than driving.

This evening, I went with her on the green to catch her in action.

a royal audience

Come December, C has a piano concert and she has been practising for it.

This evening, she insisted on having her princesses friends listen to her so she lined them up.

C is still not very good with her piece yet but she tries. :) Hopefully by then, she will play the piece beautifully.

Our Precious with all her royal friends.

"a pot of flowers"

C's latest art piece from her class:
:)

We always look forward to Saturday because she comes back with many pretty pictures.

it's homework time again!

C has been working on Pronouns these days.

She has no problems identifying the pronouns in the subject and object positions.

More practice on word problems. She is now working on simple additions.

Annual Concert 2010

C has been practising very hard for this performance. She practised her dance routine even when she was in the bathroom and even she could, we could hear her chanting away, "1,2,3,4..." She clearly loved what she was doing and dancing to.
C with her classmates just before she had to assemble.

These pictures were taken during the full dress rehearsal, taken by professional photographers.

We were very impressed with all the children. They took us through the ages with the different dance routines: from the Minuet of the French Courts, the silent movies times of Charlie Chaplin, right up to the early 1990s. There were contemporary dances too like Korean and Japan pop!

When C was in her costume, we hadn't the slightest clue what kind of dance she would do and our guesses were "cowboy" or some country music related ones. But...

We never expected this! :)

"My new clubs!"

Last week, we had C's measurements taken for her clubs and this week, we collected them. :)

The first thing we arrived at the driving range was to head to the office to pick them up. C was very excited because she has been talking about them.

Her shiny, pink clubs! She used them for her lessons this week. For slightly more than $260, C got 4 clubs: 2 irons, 1 wood and a putter and then of course, the bag to keep all of them in. The good thing about them is that the clubs can be extended when she is older so she doesn't need to get new ones next time.

She was happy to carry the clubs back to the car after her class.

"Swimming Skill Level 1"

Cheryl received her certificate for her clearance of "Swimming Skill Level 1" and she was grinning from ear to ear. :)
C mentioned that swimming was one of the activities she loves doing the most. Honestly, I am glad (more than glad actually) that C takes to all the enrichment classes that she attends. She loves Saturday best because there is art and then she swims in the afternoon.

"Happy Deepavali"

For art today, C did a little piece for Deepavali.
She chose pretty colours and even lined the rims with sprinkles. :)

Costume...

C's annual concert is coming up and she has been hard at work, practising her dance routine. Tomorrow is her full dress rehearsal and this evening, she showed me the costume she would be wearing for her performance.

Cute! We can't wait to watch her dance on stage. :)

C's very own...

C has been playing golf for some time now. Although her class is an hour long, we always end up spending 1.5 hours or even 2 at the driving range because she can't finish her balls. So now, we reach the driving range earlier and get her started 30 minutes before her lesson.

We figure that she could use this extra time to warm up and get her form before lesson starts. This way, she will be able to concentrated better and have a more productive time with Coach Philip. But because we have been using the club that Coach Philip provided, often, we have to wait for him to get one for C or wait for a bay to be available before C can start so after some discussion with Daddy, we decided that it is time to get C her own clubs.

I searched over the Internet for prices and the things to look out for when getting junior clubs and realised that it isn't so easy to get a set that is suitable for her. Most of these club sets are categorized by age groups of at least 2 years difference and hence the length may not be suitable for her age now. I told Coach Philip that I was opened to getting second-hand clubs and then he said I should just get them customized.

C's hands were measured and her height was taken.

She got to choose the designs she wanted too. And of course, her favourite colour, "pink" will adore the grips and bag. The set will be ready next week so... I will post pictures of them. :)

TMC

It has been a week and last night, C vomited her dinner again. Daddy and I were worried as this has been going on for far too many days and I have noticed that Precious has lost weight. How could she not have since she wasn't able to keep her food in?

This afternoon, we recalled that C's swim class had been postponed hence we decided to bring forward a visit to a Chinese physician. The last time Daddy brought her to our regular doc, she returned home with no less than 8 bottles of medicines and to think that she had to take all those thrice a day sent shivers down my spin.

The wait at e clinic was long. That is an understatement... By the time we were done, it was 2.5 hours later.

This was all C has to take for now. 1 pack each time and for 3 times daily and we will have to return 3 days later for a review. Initially, I was kind of worried that C would throw up the medicine. I was sure the meds would be bitter and smell bad but surprisingly, C had no problem downing the powder which had to be dissolved in lukewarm water.Daddy has his own stash to finish too.

She is sleeping now and rather peacefully for once. We hope the meds will work and C will recover soon.

It wasn't just C who consulted the physician. Daddy too, for his back pain and he did his first acupuncture session. Daddy commented he felt better after that. Well, let's pray that the visit to the chinese physician will pay off and have both of them recover soon.

the Math language

I started word problems with C some weeks back and this evening, C told me that Ms Novelle has also started word problems with her in school. She is doing simple addition word problems and I deliberately got her to focus on several phrases in the sums that meant "addition".
She knows that "in total", "sum of", "altogether", "in all" are just some of the many ways of addition.

Stomach flu?

C is down.

She was alright yesterday... until around 7pm. We took a long nap in the afternoon and woke up in time for our golf lesson. C had a good game and enjoyed herself learning to chip on the green. After the game, we headed to Grand Mummy's for dinner and at the car park, C suddenly threw up, soiling Daddy's pants.

However, she seemed fine; no fever and she didn't complain of anything else. She didn't eat much of her dinner but had light porridge and then on our way back, she told me that she felt like she was going to throw up again. I quickly handed her a plastic bag, just in case and then it happened. We made a detour to the Doc's and she was prescribed some medication.

But that didn't stop her vomiting. She threw up the very little bread that she had eaten just before bed time and then in the wee hours of the morning, Daddy and I were awoken by the noise of her puking into her puke mug. She didn't even try to wake me up, instead she had reached out for the mug and threw up inside so that she wouldn't dirty herself or her bed.

There was no fever this morning but Daddy later texted to inform that she had thrown up again and was running a temperature. So it was to the Doc's again. Hopefully she will recover soon.

Chipping

Today, Coach Philip brought C to the green for chipping.

She definitely preferred to be on the green than the driving range.

Coach Philip giving her close supervision as it was her first attempt at chipping.

C with her golf mates. All of them have been with Coach Philip for a long time.

The red flag. C had to chip the ball there. She needed to focus definitely and she also had to learn about directions.

pool progress

C is under a new coach now that she has cleared her stage.

This session, she did more of the free style and back stroke. Still ain't a very strong swimmer, but she is making steady progress. :)

"He is in good hands."

Grand Daddy passed away last week. He breathed his last after all of us arrived at the hospital and although we have had similar episodes with such close encounters in the past and we were prepared for the worst, the reality of Grand Daddy's passing still hit us like a ton of bricks.

It was difficult but we didn't want to see him suffer. Grand Daddy wasn't the same person he was. Though alert mentally, his physical body wasn't able to keep up anymore and it really pained us to see how he had become. I guess no matter how tough it was for us, it was definitely more difficult for him and Grand Mummy.

It has been slightly more than a week... . We still miss him and I am still coming to terms. I have my moments but I believe that Grand Daddy is in good hands now. At least the pain and suffering is no more for him.
