"Happy Birthday, Grand Mummy!"

This was a project we had planned for a while. When C first learned that she could decorate her own cake, she wanted to make 1 for each of us. Hence I told her that she could do it for Grand Mummy's birthday.
She had decided a long time ago which size the cake should be. Of course, she had also planned on which icing to use for the decorations.
Then she started...

Steady hands... I helped her with the wordings on the surface of the cake because she didn't feel confident enough to do it.

There! The final product! I guess C has to learn that when it comes to decorations, less is really more. Ha ha. But she loved her design so what could I say? It was after all, her present to her Grand Mummy. :)

Precious with her present. :) She was mighty proud of herself and wanted to bring the cake over to Grand Mummy that very evening.

But we had other plans in mind. This afternoon, we had steamboat for lunch for Grand Mummy's birthday celebration.
Grand Mummy with her lovely grand children.

Grand Mummy was very happy! :) and she had every reason to be.

"Happy Birthday!"

Hamilton and F1...

Daddy told me that he wanted to go catch some action of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix as the race car drivers are in town. I think he prayed really hard because he texted me excitedly that his colleague gave him free passes to the Practice this evening.

Yes, I am at home as I got back from work not too long ago and the Father and Daughter pair had gone off to the Marina Bay area. As I am typing this entry, Lewis Hamilton is leading! :) Woohoo! Daddy is a happy man, I am sure.

And he took some pictures of our Precious.

crossword!

C browsed through her many activity books and decided that she wanted to do some colouring and a crossword puzzle.
She wanted to do more but I had to stop her as it was getting late. However, it is heartening to know that she enjoys these activities.

Clozed passage, Subtraction and Comprehension

C's homework last week:
C has to read short passages and then do simple comprehension questions by ticking the correct answers.

Her take on clozed passage. There are helping words where she can refer to.

And for Math, she has moved on to doing subtraction which requires "borrowing" from tens.

Aunt Jules is 32!

It's a special day! Aunt Jules is 32!

After our golf lessons, we headed to Hans' for dinner.
Some of us indulged in western food while others ate their favourite local dishes.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Jules!

Putting!

This is week 3 of our golf lessons and C has been doing okay.
Most of our lessons were on the driving range and C was practising her swings. She still needs to work on staying firm and concentrating before actually executing the swing because she wants to see her ball "fly", she said.

This evening, Coach Philip brought her to the green where she learned to putt. C was really excited because she had never been on the green before.
C still has to learn to manage her strength and how to stand properly.

Stage Cleared!

C goes under a new swim coach every 3 months. She learns a new technique, firms up the old one and then get tested by the coach who will take her for the next three months. If the new coach isn't pleased with her performance, she stays with the current coach for the next 3 months till she gets tested again.

Our Precious, wearing her new costume. She was complaining of the thermal one being a little too tight. Doesn't she look all grown up here?

Part of her test.

Being able to swim 25 m of the pool was also one of the criteria.

Finally, the cousins meet!

Jackie and family came to town and yes, finally the cousins get to meet.
C and Mya last saw each other when they were like 3. The first time they met, they were playing together like they had known each other forever. :) When C learned that Mya was here, she immediately demanded that we bring her to Grand Aunt June's place.

C was seeing Jasper for the first time though but she was playing with her and giving him hugs. It's good and heartening to see how well they play together.
The girls, sharing a drink during dinner.

Globe

Cheryl worked on this for almost 3 weeks and finally, she came back with the art piece.
Nicely done!

Inspired!

Okay, why is C holding her ukulele?

She was inspired by a clip she saw on YouTube. It was a clip of a 5 year old Japanese boy who could strum the ukulele like an expert. You have to watch the clip to believe me.

These days, she has been carrying her ukulele every where she goes.

cut and paste and...

More craft this evening!

C's weakness: craft! Even if she was engrossed with her Disney channel, once I asked "Craft?" and she would drop everything to come to the room with me. :)

We revisited some of C's old craft books which were left untouched for a long time but she found them kind of cute.
3D faces of animals!

This was really fun to make and it was easy too. C only needed to cut along the lines and fold along the dotted ones.

And she did it. :) The characters could change their costumes and C was all giggly when she saw what misfits the characters turned out to be.

C has been singing this song she learned from her teachers in school. I fell in love with it the very first time she sang it and now, :) I know the lyrics to this song too.

Steffi's in town...

The last time we saw Steffi was when Daddy and I found out we were pregnant with C and that was a good 6 years ago.

This afternoon, the entire family met up with her to have lunch. :) By the time we were done eating, we were stuffed and it was no wonder because ...
there was so much food!

Ops... Uncle Ben was missing...
