Sayonara, Reiko Sensei

C will be losing one of her teachers. Reiko Sensei is definitely one of her favourites and C is always singing the Japanese songs and poems that Reiko Sensei has taught her.

We bought the card last week but we only found time to work on it tonight.

C wrote her message, left her email address behind and then said she wanted to draw horses and flowers for Reiko Sensei. After she drew the horses, she went on to sing the song about Mother and Baby Horses that Reiko Sensei taught her.

"The wheels of the bus..."

C made a bus!
It came complete with lyrics to the song "The wheels on the bus" . Then she made another one on her own where she cut out pictures of people and pasted them over the window area. Ha ha!

"Happy Birthday, Grand Mother!"

C was singing the loudest, as she belted the Birthday Song! :)
"Happy Birthday, Grand Mother!"

scissors, paper... and colouring!

Using the scissors is a great way to practise fine motor skills. Controlling the tool takes a lot of effort and then cutting the shapes to size is something C has to learn herself.

Luckily, they are "stars" and "flowers" , which happens to be one of C's many favourites so completing the task is easy. :)

The final products! :) Not too bad. :)

unscrambling...

C's homework. Recognising what the pictures are isn't the only thing C needs to do. She has to be able to pronounce the words and then decipher the spelling before writing them out.

weighing scale

Another piece of craft from Josiah.

C made a weighing scale. Uncle Joel in the picture too! :)

origami

We got this from Yoshinoya Restaurant!

It's actually a print out of a cat and we just need to fold the pieces correct places for the cat to take shape. Not easy and definitely not something C could do without help. There were too many parts that I had to glue together and after a while of applying glue and then re-applying because the small parts did not stick together, C suggested we use scotch tape instead.

At least the "cat" appeared, but of course with the ugly tapes. Very "un-Japanese" looking! Hee.

Thank you, Aunt Claudia!

C received a very sweet gift from Aunt Claudia. Aunt Claudia knows that C loves to do craft at home and it was extremely nice of her to get this little gift.

Katie, and Claudia!

The gift!

Of course, our Precious was happy when she got it and wanted to do some of the activities in there. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to start on them because I have been busy. But the holidays are coming up and I am sure we will soon. :)

ones and tens

C has been making progress in her Math. Ms May has taught her how to add ones and tens.

C managed to complete her homework pretty quickly. :)

getting artistic!

Daddy, Cheryl and I were "off" and when Aunt Joan called to ask if we wanted to join Keziah for a trial art session, we jumped at the chance.

Once C knew that she was going to do some painting, she was very excited and getting her to take her nap turned out to be quite a task because she was going on about the class.

We met Aunt Joan and Keziah at 4pm and then made our way there... .

Vince Art School!

This was C's creation! The teacher commented that C's got quite an imagination. :)

Keziah's art piece!

After the session. :)

The girls clearly enjoyed themselves and Aunt Joan and I were contemplating signing them up for the class. The school holiday is coming up so ... .

growing crystals...

C and I did this some time back: growing crystals.

We used common ingredients which could be easily found around the house.

A sponge, a lot of salt, and a beaker of preferably boiling water. Otherwise, very hot water will do as well.

C mixed in the salt and stirred till they are dissolved. Then she added white vinegar into the mixture.

Because the water was extremely hot, I had to help her pour the mixture onto the sponge. Do remember to place the sponge on a tray of some sort so that the water does not spill. Then we put the entire tray out under the sun. Crystals should start forming... .

You can add colours into the water so that the crystals that form will be tinted. :) This was what we saw after 2 days.

We didn't throw the rest of the mixture away and continued to soak the sponge.

See... a lot more crystals have formed! "They look like ice!" C exclaimed, except that they don't melt. :)

new Passport!

Time really flies! C got her first passport when she was only 3 months old and now, it was time for a new one.

How much has she grown? :)

more 3 D structures!

C and I love to do this because it is amazing to see what we can come up with.

C said that she wanted to make a large structure this time so I told her we have to combine the square and triangle shapes that we created the previous time. She followed the instructions given to her and very slowly put the structure together.

See!

I told her that there is a very famous museum in Paris that resembles what we are doing here so we goggled and found a picture of the Louvre Pyramid.

then she said, we would do this the next time. Haha!

music progress

Come November and C would have attended music class for a year. She only came under Teacher Sophia's guidance in March and since then, her progress has been good.

When Daddy brought C for her session on Tuesday, Teacher Sophia commented that C could play rather well now.

Teacher Sophia said C could play this piece. :) Good job, Precious!

"Carnival Extravaganza"

C will be attending another session with Josiah during the November holidays. After C's Astronaut's experience the previous time, we are eager to pack C off for this one. Besides, a carnival theme enrichment class would be something to look forward to.

If you are keen and available during these dates, why not join C?

Congratulations, Aileen!

My colleague, Aileen tied the knot recently and she was really sweet to invite us to her wedding.

C with Aunt Hazel!

Our table shot with the happy couple! :)
