a day with Daddy Dearest

Daddy didn't go to work today and no one was more pleased than our Precious, Cheryl.

In the late afternoon, after her nap, we brought her out for a little treat at her favourite joint, MacD's. She instructed me to take a picture of her beside Mr Ronald MacDonald himself and of course, she insisted on Daddy sitting beside her. She didn't want me in the picture... When I asked if I could take a picture with her, she said "No need."

Heidi is 2 years old.

Aunt Shirley and Uncle Edwin were really sweet to invite us to Heidi's birthday bash by the pool.

Cheryl was talking about it the entire day and she kept reminding us that we had a party to go to. When we were there, she immediately asked to play with the bubbles and run around the place.

I got Cheryl to pose with the Birthday Girl!

The birthday cake! Baby Heidi loves cars and so the doting Mummy got her many many cars, which by the way was really the centre of attraction for all the children at the party.

Movies at the Beach!

Aunt Angie and several of her pals thought it would be a wonderful idea to spend some time at the beach and so when she extended the invitation to us, I kind of jumped at the chance to go along as it has been quite a while since we last went to the beach and C had been pestering us to bring her. Besides, she hasn't met up with Aunt Angie and the other 2 girls too.

So, we prepared some food and along with our floor mats, we headed off to the beach in the late afternoon. We gave all the other activities a miss and reserved a very good spot for ourselves 2 hours before the movie started.

There were many things happening at ECP like this miniature battle tanks we saw.

The kids ate a little something before they started playing in the sand.

I came so unprepared (without a change of clothes for C) but she didn't mind that she had sand in her hair, shirt, ears, ... you get the picture.

And some wonderful shots of the pictures I took:

Cheryl and Daddy caught sight of some planes in the skies as they were having rehearsals for the upcoming National Day Parade.

Tambourine

Today, Cheryl learned more about rhythm with the tambourine. She was dancing to the song and of course, she had a good time playing with her other friends in class.

Teacher Siew Li revised with the children some notes and Cheryl pasted the notes to the corresponding sounds she listened to on the CD player. Before we left the class, Teacher Siew Li also handed a gift to Cheryl for performing last week. Cheryl was thrilled and she held on to the present the whole time we were having lunch.

Look what came in today!

Cheryl and I finally got our hands on these very pretty decals!

When I first told Cheryl that I had ordered some HK decals for her, she couldn't stop talking for the longest time and this evening, we finally received them.

Cheryl was all excited and she wanted to paste the huge sticker on her cupboard. I told her to keep it for use later when she does get her own wardrobe.

I also got some small decals for my boring Toyogo drawers at work.

P.S: Aunt Di, if you are keen on some, I can pass them to you. See the decals of Kitty and the hibiscus flowers? Can be used on the doors of your kitchen cabinets!

Update:
I pasted some of the decals on my drawers!! And I love them! It would be perfect if my drawers are in pink but I think it will be impossible to find... at least for now and for a long time.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ly proud!!

Several weeks ago, Teacher Siew Li told me that she would like Cheryl to perform a piece for the preview Seimpi Marine Parade (the outlet that Cheryl attends her class). Daddy and I were thrilled that Teacher Siew Li thought C was competent to do it.

But last week, C told me that she was not ready to perform so after talking to Daddy, we decided that we would not force her to do something she did not like to do. I had wanted C to learn music and appreciate music not for the purpose of having her to perform and since she had expressed reservations, we did not want to impose and make her fearful of music. I even called the school to inform them that C would not be performing.

But on Friday, C told Aunt Di that she wanted to perform and that she wanted Grand Mummy, Grand Daddy, Aunt Margaret, Aunt Juliana, Uncle Ben, Daddy and Mummy to clap for her so we decided to let her try.

Moments before her turn to take the floor.

So our family came in full strength to support our Little Spark!

Kai Joon, C's classmate was also asked to give a little performance.

Our Precious rose to the occasion!

Cheryl had the audience in giggles because she was swaying and twisting while playing on the keyboard. Daddy and I thought she was nervous but later on when she was looking at some of the pictures taken, she told me that she was dancing while playing.

Yes, Daddy and I are "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"-ly proud of our Precious!

The school gave all performers a little token of appreciation. Cheryl was so tired after that she dozed of in the car. She had missed her afternoon nap to do this.

after 3 weeks of rest...

Cheryl was extremely excited to be in music class today as she had a break of 3 weeks. When she woke up this morning, she was already telling me what she wanted to wear for class later.

Today, we have a new classmate and she is such a doll. The kids had a ball of a time there and they sang songs and played games.

Cheryl absolutely loves the wood block; every time Teacher Siew Li asks her to pick an instrument, she never fails to choose the wood block!

In case you are wondering, this is the song she was singing to:

"Naughty pussycat
You are very fat!
You have butter on your whiskers
Naughty pussycat"

Earlier on when she was singing to the song and doing some actions, she pointed to me when she came to the line "You are very fat!". Oh, I think I have to lose some weight! Hee..

The children playing "London Bridge" in class. Incidentally, this is the song they have to learn this week.

You Tube for kids! ... finally

Daddy returned from work and he introduced our little Precious to this new site. Cheryl loves the videos found there!

went hunting...

Yesterday, Cheryl wanted to go Hello Kitty shopping but because the weather was killing me, I decided against leaving the house. C was rather disappointed but she was willing to make do with a Strawberry Short Cake VCS. So today, to make it up for her, Aunt Di and I went Hello Kitty hunting!

I got some pretty neat and practical stuff which C could use and when she saw what I had bought for her, she was all smiles! I am beat from all the walking around but to see how happy C was, I felt it was all worth it.

sushi?

I kind of ransacked the fridge to come up with something different for breakfast this morning.

Next time, I will go get more ingredients to make better sushi.

I would love to get this...

I would love to get a bed like this for C:

Happy Father's Day

Instead of buying a card off the shelves, Cheryl and I decided to make use of whatever we have at home to make Daddy a card.

Cheryl drew a picture of Daddy some days ago and I thought we could turn it into an art piece. So I cut it out nicely and C pasted it on the front of the card.

Then we wrote some greetings inside and Cheryl did the colouring.

I had pictures of her in action but I accidentally deleted them from the camera.

The Serenity Prayer

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

Playing Games

Several months ago, I posted an entry on some printables from the Internet.

Cheryl has been working on them and now that she is older, we finally got her to play some of the educational games there. Daddy and I were pleased that she seemed to know what she was doing, and she could move the mouse rather well.

She didn't have problems playing the games too and was delighted that she got the answers right.

A date with Aunt Angie

We brought the girls to the movies today!

There was so much hype about the movie, Kung Fu Panda so when Aunt Angie asked if we wanted to go, I jumped at the chance!

The last time C went for a movie in the cinema was last year. When C found out that Zinnia and Yeva would be there too, she was elated and couldn't wait. She even asked me why was Aunt Angie so late in coming to pick us up.

Cheryl enjoyed some parts of the movie but there were some pretty dark scenes and she buried her face in my chest and pretended to sleep. Thankfully the cinema was not that crowded and I sat her in some unoccupied seats and then explained to her what was going on so that she would understand. After that, the movie didn't seem so frightening to her.

The girls posing for some pictures.

The girls also did some bowling. Zinnia seemed the experienced one while C was just getting herself warmed up.

After that, we went for some ice cream at Mac D and waited for the Care Bear performance to start.

Our Little Spark. She was initially afraid of being up there by herself and wanted me to be with her but in the end, she mustered enough courage to be there on her own. *Thank you, Aunt Angie for taking the picture.* I would have taken pictures of Zinnia, Yeva and Adrianna had C not insisted on me being with her.
