More bottle than breasts... ?

This morning was a huge success! Cheryl drank from the bottle and she finished all 120ml of it! I was thrilled. On Christmas, she was fussing and crying for my breasts... again and I breastfed her. But as I was doing it, I told her that Mummy has got no more milk and Cheryl must drink from the bottle soon.

True enough, she suckled for several minutes but because the flow was not there, she looked at me with so much saddness and I was about to break down myself. I told her gently that she must drink from the bottle and gave her the teat which she took. She was still crying as she suckled from the bottle.

This morning, she woke up as she was hungry and she could not go back to bed. So I carried her and prepared a bottle of milk for her. I was half-expecting her to let out a shrill, as if to tell me that I have cheated her. But when I gave her the bottle, she took it without any fuss and finished all the milk in no time. I was so proud of her!

After that, she went back to bed. I will give her the bottle again tomorrow night.

Cheryl enjoying her door gifts!

Cheryl went for a little birthday bash today. Daddy's friend from the army, Vincent and wife, San, celebrated their boy, Lucus' 1 year old birthday. My precious got a little door gift from the party. She was holding onto the bag the entire time she was there and would not let it go even when she fell asleep in the car on our way back.
See how she devours the little treats inside!

Bottle vs Breast Part III

We are back to square one. Cheryl has been slowly taking the bottle but she will not finish her milk though. She will leave about 80 ml in the bottle and push the bottle away. Here is the evidence!

But I am still alright because at least, she does not reject it outright. But during the time she was ill, she was exceptionally touchy and won't have her milk in the bottle at all. So now, even though she has recovered, she still does not want the bottle that readily. Everytime she sees the bottle, she will cry.

So you can just imagine the amount of milk I have to throw away. Just 2 days ago, I made milk for her 3 times, and each time, she rejected them. I was hoping that my the end of December, I would not have to breastfeed her but from the looks of it, it is still going to take a while longer.

A savings account at last!

I have been wanting to open a saving account for Cheryl... since when she was a month old and now she is 8. I am such a procastinator!!
But the good news is, its finally done! We made our way to the bank to day and after a 2 hours wait, Cheryl finally has a savings account. She waited till she fell asleep and even after she woke up, it wasn't her turn yet.
After that, we went for lunch together. This was the first time that I ate lunch with Cheryl. I sat her in a high chair at Delifrance and she was eating my potato. After I had eaten, she fussed for her milk. When she has had her fill, we went window shopping. I couldn't believe it but I must say I was rather proud of myself for doing that. Now the next thing that I must learn is how to go to the toilet when I am alone with her.

Rashes! Oh rashes!

Cheryl's fever finally went away for good on Tuesday but she has sinced developed lots of rashes. The rashes appeared on her torso, back, then they spread to her neck, face, behind her ears and finally, all over her limbs.

The consolation I got was, at least I know that its not measles; doc confirmed it. But my heart aches when I see the red patches on her and I felt worse when she smiles. Hey, I did say that my little one is a survivor, and she is every bit a strong girl. She is so positive, I think I will make her my role model.

She has also started to utter lots.

I thought Cheryl would call her Daddy "Pa pa" but recently she all the sounds she makes sound like "Daddy". Aunty Diana, and Grandmummy have heard it too!

Wise words from Einstein

Lots of "first" today...

Cheryl turns 8 months old today. I had plans to go out shopping for Christmas gifts but when I put her down for her morning nap, I realised that she was running a fever. Immediately, I sponged her. I wanted to bring her to the doc but she was very sleepy.

Finally, when she had a temperature of 39 degree celcius, Aunt Diana and Juliana told me to bring her down to KKH. I was right at the door steps of the doc but I turned back and hoped into a cab.
Daddy met us at the hospital as he was out.

During the checkup, Cheryl was cranky and cried miserably. I felt totally helpless. But it was a relief when the doc told me that everything was okay. She had viral infection which was very common amongst young children.

Cheryl's fever subsided soon after and she was back to her bubbly self. We passed by a shop; they make calligraphy brushes out of baby's hair. I had been wanting to go to that shop forever, so I told Daddy that we would do the brush there.

Cheryl was very cooperative during the hair trim and was even babbling away, much to the amusement of the staff.

oh, by the way, I found out that she is finally teething! I saw two white "stain" on her lower gums. Finally, after so many months of waiting! Haha, I am more anxious than Cheryl, I think.
Here are some pictures of Cheryl; after her first official hair cut. Seriously, I think she looks like a boy now.

The new look!

More pictures of Cheryl's new hairdo.

Daddy's little girl

Daddy could not resist this time. I had changed Cheryl out of her clothes as they were soiled and I was about to clean her up for bed.
See the resemblance?

Moving in forward gear finally!

Cheryl has been trying to crawl for several weeks. Initially, she could only "crawl" backwards but she has since learnt to move forward. It is a wonderful experience, not just for her, but for me too. Cheryl is really happy when she can go forward and grasp at the things i put in front of her. I, on the other hand, encourage her by clapping and praising her. Nothing can replace the smiles she gives me.

I told Daddy of her achievement and even got Cheryl to show him what she is capable of.

These pictures were taken some time back, when she was just starting to be on all fours.

This last picture is the most recent because this is what she can do now; she knows how to sit herself upright after being in the crawling position.
